1. World in Serbia and Serbia for the Serbs from the Region projects
Since 2010, projects of the Government of the Republic of Serbia World in Serbia and Serbia for the Serbs from the Region have been bringing many foreign students from various countries around the world to learn Serbian and then study in Serbia. These projects are scholarship programs for all levels of study, and they include a preparatory year of Serbian. Language classes are organized by Centre for Serbian as a Foreign Language. After 7 months of intensive language course (960 school hours), students are expected to have B1 CEFR level of competence, which allows them to enroll in Belgrade university schools. In our experience, due to high motivation for successful graduation, many students in these projects achieve impressive results in their studies, sometimes even better than their Serbian mother-tongue colleagues.
During the first year of their life in Serbia, dedicated solely to learning Serbian, students have housing, dining and language classes in beautiful facilities of students’ recreational centre Radojka Lakic in Avala, just outside Belgrade.
After completing language course and passing the exam, students start their studies in Belgrade University and they move to the students’ dormitory Studentski grad.
2. Erasmus Mundus, Basileus and other student-exchange programs allow students to attend language courses and complete the exam.
